I've spent the past few days visiting belly dance costume manufacturers. The work that goes into making each individual piece is incredible - some costumes can take as long as 6 months to finish by hand.

Guess what this is going to be!
Professional dancers see their costume as an extension of themselves and their abilities. The costume they choose is as important to them as the music they dance to.
Some dancers prefer a well-fitting professional costume, others prefer a simple galabiya (long, loose dress), with a hip scarf to prove their dancing ability without relying on the costume decorations to enhance their movements.

Wow, no wonder some of the costumes are so expensive when they reach Britain, all that hand sewing!
, when we have our twice yearly haflas I tend to opt for the galybia.....although it has been known....
